Not far from our house there is a beautiful wild beach. The picturesque rocky shore pleases the eye. Stone shallows covered with shells and algae rise above the water. This makes them look like big shaggy green tortillas.
Not only people like this beach. It has long been favored by a pair of huge pelicans. Mighty birds with huge wings and beaks behave very friendly and are not afraid of people at all. When they are not fishing they are not averse to begging for some delicacy from those who pass by.
They are certainly cute and kind, but their bulky beaks are not toys, and I do not go near them. They can make a sharp, frightening movement with their long necks. Although some daredevils even manage to stroke their backs.
When the pelicans are full, they freeze, strike a pose and look thoughtfully towards the sea.
Who knows what the Pelicans are thinking at such times?
Недалеко от нашего дома есть красивый дикий пляж. Живописный каменистый берег радует глаз. Над водой возвышаются каменные отмели покрытые ракушками и водорослями. От этого они похожи на большие лохматые зелёные лепёшки.
Не только людям нравится этот пляж. Его давно облюбовала пара огромных пеликанов. Могучие птицы с огромными крыльями и клювами ведут себя очень дружелюбно и совсем не боятся людей. Когда они сами не ловят рыбку, они не прочь поклянчить какое-нибудь лакомство у проходящих мимо.
Они конечно милашки и добряки, но клювы у них не игрушечные, и я не подхожу к ним близко. Они могут делать резкое пугающее движение длинной шеей. Хотя некоторым смельчакам даже удаётся погладить им спинку.
Когда пеликаны сыты, то они замирают в одной позе и задумчиво глядят в сторону моря.
Кто знает, о чём в такие моменты думают пеликаны?
A short happy life.
Короткая счастливая жизнь.
It was a lovely morning started by observing the pigeon's nest on the neighbor's balcony, which I wrote about earlier. The squeakers began to overgrow with real feathers. Just a few more days and they will fly away from the nest.
There was no sign of trouble.
Having breakfast we overheard a distant bird's anxious chirp that quickly subsided. Then out of the corner of the eye, we saw a crow zigzaging across the sky with several pigeons clumsily chased it. It all happened so quickly that we didn't pay much attention.
Later we went to have a look at the little pigeons again.
And we all have started crying at once.
It became clear what kind of bird's commotion it was.
A huge black vile crow attacked the nest and instantly killed the squeakers.
With its huge, sharp beak it cracked their heads.
Tears blurred my eyes. I couldn't understand such a senseless cruelty to such cute fluffy pouches.
Mama and Papa pigeons didn't believe it either.
They sat motionless nearby and looked at their bloodied babies, hoping that this was all just a terrible dream, and they would now begin to move.
But no. That didn't happen.
The parent-pigeons numbed. Just a lumps rolled on their necks. Maybe it was food for the squabs and maybe it was a heart in the throat from unbearable sorrow.
Mother-dove was the first to believe.
She flapped her wings and flew away.
Dad could only believe it much later.
He flew into the nest several more times, clumsily and confusedly hovered around there and purred softly. No one responded. Finally, he heavily flew out from the nest. He sat for a moment for the last time, and left this sad place.
The poor squeakers have lived a very short but very happy life. They knew nothing about life but the tender love of their mother and the caring shadow of their father's strong wings. When they were killed, they didn't even have time to realize what had happened.
I think that they are now in their beautiful pigeon's paradise, where there are many delicious seeds and juicy worms and there are no vile black murderers-crows.
I'm not sure that paradise exist, but thought about it releives my pain.

Only few people have seen little pigeons. I even thought that pigeons are born grown up an big right away. It turned out that this is not true.
Where I live pigeons are very bold and even insolent. Even if you flush them out, they response very flaccid and reluctantly.
So a pair of pigeons made their nest in an empty flower pot on a neighbor's balcony. They laid eggs and a pair of baby-pigeons ? hatched soon. Papa-pigeon and mama-pigeon took turns hatching the eggs, and now they fly away in turn to spell and bring food for the chicks.
Theу grow very fast.
A week ago they were completely naked, and now they are two charming fluffy downy pouches.
Papa pigeon protects them from the sun with the shadow of his body. He looks at me very warily when I take a picture of him, but he doesn't fly away.
They are very caring parents. I think that many people could take after them.
When the chicks grow up, they will fly away and forget their parents. I read about it. I'll try not to forget my dad and mom.

Мало кто видел маленьких голубят. Я даже думала что голуби сразу рождаются большими. Оказалось что это не так.
Там где я живу голуби очень смелые и даже наглые. Даже если их прогонять, то они очень вяло реагируют и нехотя.
Поэтому пара голубей устроила себе гнездо в пустом цветочном горшке на соседском балконе. Они отложили яйца и из них вывелась пара голубят?. Папа голубь и мама голубка по очереди высиживали яйца, а теперь, так же по очереди, улетают отдохнуть и принести корм для птенцов.
Они растут очень быстро. Неделю назад они были совсем голые, а сейчас уже это два очаровательных пуховых мешочка.
Папа голубь защищает их от солнца тенью своего тела. Он очень настороженно смотрит на меня, когда я его фотографирую, но не улетает. Мама голубка тоже всегда неподалеку.
Они очень заботливые родители. Думаю что многие люди могли бы брать с них пример.
Когда птенцы вырастут, то они улетят и забудут своих родителей. Я читала об этом. Я постараюсь не забывать своих папу и маму.
