Extract
You can earn monster cells as rewards throughout the game, and also extract them directly from a monster. But be careful, that monster will disappear completely in the process!
Craft
Once you have collected 100 monster cells, you can place them into a crafting pod to create a brand new egg. You can use elementium or elemental cells to replace most missing monster cells. Warmasters, Forsaken (and Lord Pumpseed), and mythic monsters may not be crafted using elementium or elemental cells.
Crafting takes time. Once an egg is crafted, it will be placed in the hatchery.
Ranking Up
Ranking Up monsters allows them to level up beyond their default maximum level and greatly increase their stats. Ranking up a monster requires cells of that monster, elemental cells, or elementium. However, Warmasters, Forsaken (and Lord Pumpseed), and mythic monsters may only be ranked up with their own cells (or mythic amber, stardust, lutum, or nebula). The amount of cells required depends on the rank.
Breeding
A monster with a single element cannot breed with a monster that contains its "opposite" element:
Instead, two hybrid monsters must be bred together. For example, Firesaur and Light Spirit cannot breed together. Rather, a hybrid monster with the fire element can breed with a hybrid monster with the light element. Special and metal monsters have no opposites or breeding restrictions.
Monster Cells
Monster cells are pieces of monsters you can use to craft or upgrade other monsters of the same kind. There are as many different kinds of monster cells as there are monsters in the game!
Elemental cells can replace the missing monster cells of any monster of a specific element you want to craft or rank up. As elemental cells are very valuable, they cannot be donated in Team Chat.

All the cells you own are stored in this place. You can have a look at your collection at any time!
In order to extract, rank up, or craft monsters, a pod must be available. The first pod is always free. If, however, it is occupied, players may temporarily purchase another pod for . Common, uncommon, and rare monsters cost 1 , epic monsters cost 11 , and legendary monsters cost 14 .
Elements
The element which a particular monster belongs to determines which of the habitats it can be placed in after being hatched. Monsters must be placed in a habitat that corresponds to their element. Hybrid monsters may be placed in either habitat corresponding to either of its elements. Legendary monsters may only be placed in legendary habitats.
Rank Up
Each type of monster cell can be used to rank up monsters of the same kind.
Ranked-up monsters can level up beyond their natural maximum level, thus becoming stronger, faster, and more resilient than their peers!
Leveling Up
Monsters are restricted from leveling above Level 10 without the aid of a temple. These temples must also correspond to the element of the particular monster that the player wishes to enhance. Hybrid monsters require temples of both elements before they can level up.
Original Era Mythics
Original era mythic monsters, however, are different. Firstly, they can only be ranked up with their own cells or with mythic amber. Secondly, their rank up costs and new maximum levels are drastically higher:

Donate
You can request or donate monster cells to your teammates using the Team Chat. Donating cells will reward you with XP, gold, and War Coins!
The number of cells a player can receive/donate is restricted by their player level and the rarity of the cells requested:
Mythic, Warmaster, Forsaken, Elite, Nemesis, VIP, and Lord Pumpseed cells may not be requested or donated in the Team Chat.

The shop is where players may purchase cells. The selection rotates every 12 hours. Most cells cost but rare monsters may be purchased for when available. The purchase price increases with subsequent purchases. Sales are a regular occurrence where cells may be purchased at a discounted price or more cells may be purchased at a time.
Cosmic, Corrupted, and Metropolitan Mythics
Cosmic, Corrupted, and Metropolitan era Mythics have the ability to perform a cap breakout, allowing them to rank up to intermediate steps with fewer cells. Additionally, performing a cap breakout is instantaneous, while ranking to the next level still takes time. Metropolitan monsters are ranked up with Nebula, Corrupted monsters may be ranked with either Nebula or Lutum, and Cosmic monster may be ranked up with either Nebula or Stardust.

The Lab
The Monster Lab is available to players once they reach level 20. Once repaired, the lab can be upgraded to allow more features:

The maximum rank you can reach is limited by the Monster Lab's level: upgrade it to take full advantage of the Monster Cells!
Combat
Each element is also weak against itself and deals half damage. Dual element monsters typically have the combined weaknesses and resistances of both elements. However, if an attack would be both strong and weak against a hybrid monster (if a fire skill targeted a nature/fire monster for example), the weakness will override the strength and the damage will be halved.
Requirements
Each time a monster ranks up, it is able to level up an additional 5 levels. However, upon reaching rank 5, it is able to level up an additional 10 levels. Additionally, a ranked up monster requires more food to level up than regular monsters. The amount of food required increases by 10% every time the monster levels up.
