Linux

14:07I can't seem to locate the folder blueprints are stored in.
Also, if I was to download a blueprint from someone else, as an example Katherineofsky, how do I get those blueprints into my game? When they just appear to be strings.
19 фев в 14:09 %appdata%/Factorio is where the file itself is, but in theory what you got was a blueprint string (or a series of such strings) to paste into the "import blueprint string" from the toolbar (on the right of the hotbar). 19 фев в 14:12 19 фев в 14:19 If you are not in your first playthrough (meaning that you at lest researched construction robots once in one of your maps, not necessarily the current one), you will have a bunch of buttons on the toolbar, most of them are for blueprints (as well as copy/cut/paste that work as temporary blueprints). The import button will open a text promp where you can paste a blueprint string and if it is correct it will give you a blueprint (or book) based on the strong you pasted. 19 фев в 14:20
Oh my god, thank you!
I feel so stupid now lol
19 фев в 16:18I'm honestly not sure lmao
10 мар в 1:41 I am on my first playthrough and I have found the blueprint book but have no idea how to find the blueprints to put in the book. Where do I import them from? 10 мар в 2:24 I am on my first playthrough and I have found the blueprint book but have no idea how to find the blueprints to put in the book. Where do I import them from? The site is just an example though. You can face BPs everywhere, like on Reddit or even the Factorio Wiki.
Best way to get what you are looking for is doing a google search and use the correct keywords, like for example "Factorio smelter setup beginner BP" or something like that.
Oh and don't forget to check how old Blueprints are. Some very old ones might not work any longer or needed to get fixed first, due to some mechanics in Factorio changed/switched over the time.

Screenshots?

How do you take screenshots?
I want to take a screenshot and post it like everyone else without having to use PrintScrn. Is there a way to do that?

If you are running search on your start menu for "snipping tool" fairly straight forward to use. You can select the part of the window you want to capture. Not exactly sure what you are looking for. A full screen capture or just factorio or a part of the factorio screen, you have to be a bit more specfic.Posts: 46 Joined: Thu Apr 02, 2015 6:43 pm Contact:

Sorry, I'm used to there being a screen capture button thats bound to the keyboard that will take a screenshot and save it to a folder. Is there a hotkey like that?Posts: 1847 Joined: Sun Feb 23, 2014 3:37 pm Contact:

I think there is no builtin function to make a screenshot and save it somewhere in Factorio.I f you play on Windows 7, there is a builtin capture tool that allows you to capture and save easily. I'm pretty sure there are similar tools on Linux, and I'm pretty sure there is a marvellous amazing tool on Mac, with awesome functionalities, like . taking a screenshot and allowing you to save it in a totally awesomely amazing manner Koub - Please consider English is not my native language.

By the way, screenshots made with the in-game command somehow do not capture the cloud shadow layer. Maybe this is a minor bug?

I use a program called Greenshot, which I began using with work. I found it works rather well with Factorio.
You can set up keyboard shortcuts, capture regions, and the editor it comes with it pretty nice if you want to add text or circle something before saving/exporting.
You can even link it to Imgur and upload when you select a region making for easier sharing.
When I use it in Factorio it pauses the screen (not the game) allowing you to capture things without worrying about anything else coming into frame.

How to take screenshots in Factorio! *Many ways!*
This is the preferred way to take screenshots in Factorio, because it takes the render directly, allowing for a better picture, removes the GUI, and has a configurable zoom.
To open the command prompt, press the / (slash) or
(tilde) keys. This can be configured at Options Menu -> Keyboard -> Toggle Lua console. Here is where you will type the command.
To find your screenshot, you will need to go to the "script-output" subfolder in your User Data Directory
To retrieve the screenshot from your clipboard, simply open paint (or another image editing software) and click the "paste" button. You can now either do some extra editing if you know how to or click "save" and select the location where you want your screenshot to be saved.
Pressing the Windows Logo Key + Alt Key + Print Screen key will automatically create a screenshot of a specific program and store it for you. No manual work required.
To retrieve your screenshot, go to the following directory:
Pressing the Windows Logo Key + Shift key + S will cover your whole screen in a white shade, and then with your cursor, you can drag the area you want to be part of the screenshot. This will automatically store it in your clipboard, which you can retrieve by using the same method mentioned in the PrtScrn section.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk,
Edit 2: added how to access the command prompt, Alt + PrtScrn method (no Win key), and Win+Shift+S method
New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be castWhat I do is take all the sprites from the map, upload it to photoshop and carefully piece together it like a puzzle.
Real men build screenshots pixel by pixel from the binaries.
Wall of text ahead. TL;DR: Automating screenshots!
So what I did was write a command to take a "grid" of screenshots, you just paste it in game and it takes dozens of screenshots in a few seconds:
Then I just run a simple Python script on the output folder to piece the screenshots together:
