Cities skylines overlayer v2 как пользоваться
New map editor founded and it looks good and easy to use also for dummies like me.
Great mod. It helped me very much. Is it posibble in the future add more controls? Rotation, etc. can i use this in the map editor? i cant find the options for this mod in the pause menu. not working for me, hangs the game into a memory leak if the image is blurry, bump the texture quality in display options to high!! the path to put the image on my pc does not appear, specifically I cannot find the "files" folder. Ive tried to get this working several times and nothing shows up on my map! The FPS becomes horrible so assume something is loading but ive waited up to 20 minutes on a brand new map and still nothing :( First terrain party now overlay mods! Is there a way to rotate the image? I somehow got the image flipped (north facing south)I subscribed and added the overlay.jpg into the correct spot for the game (I load the game from another hardrive where I keep my library, the directory is basically the same). I get no option to interact with the mod and the game doesn't have the mod listed. I did not have the game running when I subscribed. I began the game after I subscribed to the mod. How do I get the mod to register and become functional?
Going to try building Seattle. Been wanting to do it for a while now.
if there is a way to tell the game to ONLY overlay on the terrain that would be amazing, you could overlay a high res 10kx10k custom made PNG texture on top of the map to make the terrain looks less crap. @alakazoid yes, you have to change the opacity of the photo with photoshop This mod causes severe lag issues when clicking the exclamation mark! @Ricardo1492 just click on the button for the mod, enables/disables the overlayDisabling hot keys is a necessary feature. The number of times I have tried to position assets using arrow keys in Move It, and having the overlay jump out of position. HUGE frustration. Is there a hotkey for turning the overlay on or off?
getting this error when I enable the mod A Mod caused an error [ModException]

Anyone know why?
I'm having an issue where I hit the button to put the overlay on and my fps tanks to 1 or 2. I assume its loading, but I left it for nearly twenty minutes. Would it be beneficial to disable my mods while working with the overlay and turn them back on once i'm finished? Is there a way to fix in place the position of the overlay so you don’t have to redo it every time the save loads? How can you make this mod compatible with geforce now? when i turn on the mod it chrashes? unfortunately this mod causes a huge fps drop for me. Don't know why. Clearly working for me, but refuses to load images bigger than 16,000x16,000px. IF THE MOD DOESN'T WORK , TAKE IT THE FUCK OFF STEAM AND STOP WASTING ALL OF OUR TIME. Hi there. I cant seem to get my overlay to work. I tried the test ones you give to rule out a problem with my own images and yours also did not work. Any suggestions?@andysec18: You do not need a higher resolution.
"Krita" did the job for me.
Use the "wrong" tool and any resolution will end up without transparency.
Actually opacity also works I just had to have a higher resolution version of the map and now there is opacity as well. Never mind, sorry - it does work. My map wasn't square enough that's why it wasn't loading. It's still difficult with the transparency issues but this is the only mod of its kind that currently works. Only when I load a save or start a new game with this mod the game doesn't crash, but it crashes if I'm opening map editor. More importantly, even in-game when I click on the exclamation point (!) button - nothing happens. Like Howard said - a transparency setting would be ideal for this./.steam/steam/SteamApps/common/Cities_Skylines/Files/overlay.jpg for me (case sensitive) but yeah this should work. Dunno why Steam sometimes installs it's stuff with upper characters and sometimes not.
@Frostsparv: lol, that a non mention? Go back in that thread and see how often stuff has been answered before. Also by me.
For those having slow fps and no image: the file needs to be named overlay.jpg. That and only that. Not myImage.jpg. If you don't name it exactly overlay.jpg it will not show up and the game will be slow. The mod works perfectly fine and without lag. I use it now with a 14080x14080 (339mb) file and it's as smooth as before. I have all DLC installed.
Read the description and use images that match your machine. Stop using mods if you are not technically inclined to do so, are used to some troubleshooting on your own or not even going to try being constructive/descriptive in the comments.
Hi. Is there any hotkey to show/hide the layer? or is there any possibility to set the transparency of the layer? I have a problem, the image doesn't load and my game is slow as ****, any update for this? seems like others have the same problem. It is kinda amazing how the very same questions are asked here again and again over the years despite detailled description, various answers and somewhere even a YT video while there is radio silence from the dev itself. Actually I just renamed the image from overlay.jpg to something else but I have a different problem now. No image loads but the game lags? The image is about 17k pixels square. Please help how do I get the image to load? The image appears as a big red question mark when I try to open it. The image is in the right directory and in png format. How do I get the overlay to load and why is it not loading?@Emoticons, cc: @princekolt
The path is not necessarily [C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Cities_Skylines\Files\]
The path is [/Files/overlay.jpg], so this should clear up any confusion:
Click mouse 2 (typically right-click, left for some left-handed mice, command-click on some macs trackpad when not using a wireless mouse) on Cities Skylines in your library, then go to "Properties" in the options menu, then the "Local Files" tab, then "Browse local files". Then navigate into the subdirectory Files.
This applies to both Windows and Mac. Additionally, in compression options, I believe there is a minimum of 24 bit or 32 bit color for the alpha channel to allow for semi-transparency with PNGs

OverLayer v2
OverLayer draws a high resolution picture over your map which follows the terrain surface.
To enable/disable the overlay, click the round button with an exclamation mark on the top of the game screen.
Version 2 brings a whole new rendering algorithm which utilizes the proper overlay engine of the game. Before this version the mod would use a hack through the seconday terrain layer, which caused lots of glitches.
Also, because of how that hack was exploited, the texture was rendered in fake colors. This is now gone! Your image is rendered in its full glory with all original colors.
Also new in version 2 is the ability to adjust the size and position of your overlay!
Read more in the "controls" section below.
This mod will load an image with name "overlay.jpg" placed in the following directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Cities_Skylines\Files\
If you copy and paste the respective path above into your file browser (Windows: Ctrl+L, OS X: Cmd+Shift+G) you will be taken to the correct path.
Note for OS X users: The "Files" directory might not exist. If it doesn't, it is safe to create it manually.
These are the current key controls for the mod:
- . (Period): Increase overlay size
- , (Comma): Decrease overlay size
- Arrow Keys: Move the overlay image (Up/Down: North/South, Right/Left: East/West)
- Home: Reset overlay image size and position
- Shift: Holding it makes all actions above go faster (less precise)
- Control: Holding it makes all actions above go slower (more precise)
About the Image
The image will cover all 81 tiles by default. You can move and change the scale of the overlay using the controls described above.

To make the most out of this mod, I recommend that you use a transparent image where only the features you wish to be visible are drawn in black/white. For example, this overlay image for Barcelona:
